A partly cloudy, milder, dry update for West Rockville Maryland for Wednesday November 15 2017
Wednesday started out cold, clear and frosty (formed at ground level near rain gauge that I saw – despite a low temp above freezing). Later, partly cloudy skies predominated during the rest of the day with very similar temperature lows as on Monday but slightly warmer maxs. Temps rose up to the lower 50s. Dew points rose a bit from yesterday, from the 30° to the mid 40s. In the evening clouds returned as a line of dying showers approached from the west. At 0620 we have generally cloudy skies. Temperatures are in the mid 40s. The Wednesday minimum temperature from the VP2 (35.0°) was recorded at 0325 while the maximum temperature (51.1°) was recorded at 1509. Dew point temps ranged from 30° up to 44°. Relative humidity values lowered a bit today (86% – 64%). Barometric values dropped from yesterday, ranging from a high of 30.32″ at 0001 lowering to 30.05″ at 2251.
Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444. I am also now on weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time.
I posted a great article on the Appalachian Storm of November 1950, only 4 months after I was born on my blog here and elsewhere. I talked with Ray about some NCEP mapping and WV mountain forecasting problems. I hope to be posting more about those problems later on in the week.
We are mostly cloudy this morning with temps in the mid 40s, not dropping much at all since midnight. The 50 POP for overnight showers didn’t pan out here, but the rain was scattered around the area, according to radar. Thursday should moderate a bit more under continued party cloudy skies with increasing westerly breezes, highs in the mid 50s and lows in the mid 30s. Turning a bit cooler on Friday during the day with highs around 50° and lows in the mid 30s under partly cloudy skies. At this point it appears that Saturday will be cloudy with highs in the mid 50s but only a 20 POP at this point and lows around 40°. Partly cloudy and cooler on Sunday, with highs in the mid 40s and lows in the upper 20s. Sunny on Monday with temps similar to Sunday.
On the Channel 4 weather website at 0620 radar shows the scattered rain showers have drifted east now, and over the mid-Atlantic ocean. Much more rain falling over much of New England and New York at this time.
