A cloudy early but predominantly mostly sunny, cold update for West Rockville Maryland on Monday, February 5 2018

Monday had some leftover clouds early from Sunday’s storm, but cleared out early and most of the day was sunny and cold. Temps were relatively cold in the not too early AM, and remained that way the rest of the day, as high temps only reached the mid 30s. The Monday maximum temperature from the VP2 (34.9°) was recorded early at 0513 while the minimum temperature (27.0°) was recorded just a few hours later at 0854. Dew point temperatures started high during the damper AM hours but lowered later in the day, ranging from a high of 34° at 0401 down to 15° at 1710. Relative humidity values behaved similarly to the dew point (97% – 52%). Barometric values started low early today but recovered nicely by early evening, ranging from a low of 29.81″ at 0209 up to a high of 30.33″ much later at 1930.

Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444.

I am posting daily to weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time. I contribute daily to cocorahs as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115. Please remember that Weather Underground does not report snow data, and reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge.

We cleared up eventually overnight, and temps lowered into the upper 20s with wind chills falling and some freezing noted on some surfaces. My rain gauge catch was partially frozen upon late morning retrieval. Monday was sunny and cold, with temps rising slowly through the upper 20s gradually into the low then mid 30s on Monday afternoon with lows back down during the overnight in the mid 20s, now under partly cloudy skies. Tuesday should be partly cloudy with high temps warming into the low 40s and lows in the upper 20s. Wednesday looks cloudy and rainy (100 POP) with high temps in the low 40s and lows in the low-mid 20s. Precipitation should start out as freezing rain/sleet in the AM but change over to rain by mid-day and continue to fall as rain the rest of the day. Mostly sunny skies should return on Thursday and colder, with highs in the mid 30s and lows in the low 20s. Friday should warm up again, under partly cloudy skies with high temps in the mid 40s and lows around 30°. Saturday should turn cloudy with a 60 POP for PM showers, highs around 50° and lows in the upper 30s.

On the Channel 4 weather website at 0650 radar is showing snow in a good part of PA and points north in NY and New England. There are a few scattered snow showers over parts of WV and KY at this time.
