A mostly cloudy, dry, mild update for West Rockville Maryland for Monday, December 4 2017

A mostly cloudy, dry, mild update for West Rockville Maryland for Monday, December 4 2017

Monday featured a good deal of “milky” sun, filtered partially by an increasing high cloud overcast from our slowly approaching cold front. Temperatures started out frosty around the freezing mark, rising up into the low 50s by mid-afternoon. Dew points were around 30° early then rose into the lower-mid 40s by the afternoon and holding the rest of the day. At 0934 we have a high cloud overcast thick enough to block off the sun this morning, with temperatures milder than yesterday, as they are in the upper-mid 40s. The Monday minimum temperature from the VP2 (32.4°) was recorded at 0536 while the maximum temperature (52.5°) was recorded at 1403. Dew point temps ranged from 30° up to 43°. Relative humidity values were about the same as yesterday (92% – 55%). Barometric values were higher than yesterday’s values, ranging from a high of 30.46″ at 1017 down to 30.32″ at 2348.

Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444.

I am also now on weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time. I contribute daily to cocorahs as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115.

I spoke a few times with Ray and once with Marty through the late afternoon and the evening about our upcoming major weather changes.  Heard a great band on late night Carson Daly, “The Shelters”, that Ray and I marveled at over the phone while they were performing.

We have cloudy skies now (still high but lowering and thickening) at this point in the morning with temps rising into the upper 40s. The rest of Tuesday looks to be cloudy with a 90 POP for periods of rain developing in the afternoon, with highs in the upper 50s to around 60° and ending in the later evening with lows in the upper 30s. Wednesday clears out by the afternoon and turns cooler, with highs in the upper 40s and lows in the lower 30s. This should be the beginning of a colder pattern heading through the rest of the week and into the weekend. Thursday should be partly cloudy with highs in the mid 40s and lows in the mid 20s. Right now Friday looks to be mostly cloudy with highs around 40°, lows in the mid 20s, with just a 10 POP for snow. Saturday looks to at least partially clear up, with hight in the low 40s and lows in the mid 20s.

On the Channel 4 weather website at 0934 their radar is showing rain over areas to my W and NW, over much of OH, western PA, western WV, and areas to the SW of there towards KY and TN, all headed east and to our area in a few hours.

As of 0934, the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony) and the Lakewood WXBug station are as follows :
