A mostly cloudy, milder, dry update for West Rockville Maryland for All Saints Day Wednesday November 1 2017

A mostly cloudy, milder, dry update for West Rockville Maryland for All Saints Day Wednesday November 1 2017

Wednesday was a mostly cloudy day with scattered sprinkles around but not measurable/observed at my station. Temperatures were a bit milder in the upper 50s for highs and low 40s for minimum values. Mostly cloudy skies have continued overnight with continued mild temperatures for early November. Dew points rose a bit today, rising into the mid 50s later in the day. At 0545 we have mostly cloudy skies and dry with little wind at the moment. Temperatures are in the upper 40s with dew points in the mid 40s. The Wednesday minimum temperature from the VP2 (43.1°) was recorded at 0227 while the maximum temperature (58.8°) was recorded at 1539. Dew point temps ranged from 33° up to 54°. Relative humidity values predictably rose a bit today (91% – 61%). Barometric values continued to rise today but at a reduced rate compared to earlier in the week but still recovering from big pressure drops earlier in the week, ranging from a low of 30.21″ at 1626 up to a high of 30.31″ at 1007.

Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444. I am also now on weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time.

I got up in the late morning as Marty came over with new, freshly painted snowboards to help me measure the snow this upcoming winter, plus marking stakes so I know where the boards are when deep snow will hide their location.  I watched the 7th and deciding game of this year’s World Series, won by the Houston Astros over the Los Angeles Dodgers by a 5-1 score, as Houston won the World Series 4 games to 3.

The first day of the new month of November remained cloudy most of the day, but with precipitation falling elsewhere, mostly north and west of my area. It is still mostly cloudy out there now, as the cloud deck has persisted overnight but should lift by midday on Thursday. There will be partly cloudy skies in the afternoon and milder with temperatures rising into the mid 70s. The temperatures are currently in the upper 40s here at my station as of 0530. Friday should be partly cloudy and continued mild, with highs in the mid 70s and lows in the mid 40s and a 30 POP for showers. Saturday looks to be partly cloudy and cooler, with highs in the upper 50s, lows in the low 50s and a 40 POP for showers. Sunday looks partly cloudy and a bit warmer with highs in the upper 60s and lows in the mid 50s. Still no real cold air intrusions in my area on the immediate horizon as it looks now.

On the Channel 4 weather website at 0545 the radar shows most rain is falling now over a good part of Upstate New York and northern New England, with more widely scattered, lighter rain over parts of the western mid-Atlantic and the eastern end of the Midwest.

As of 0545 EDT, the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony) and the Lakewood WXBug station are as follows :

Station Relative Location Temp RH DP    BP     Wind   High/Low temp today
VP2             Ground           47.8  94 46 30.24S   NA     58.8/43.1

There was no rain in the cocorahs gauge on Wednesday. The VP2 tipping bucket rain gauge under my balcony also recorded no rain on Wednesday.

October precipitation final total is 2.85″.

November precipitation is 0.00″.

Year-to-date precipitation total is now 36.41″

The Lakewood rain gauge recorded 0.00″ of rain through midnight on Wednesday. I did not hear back from weatherbug support on the precipitation errors I noted from Sunday and Monday today so no resolution as yet as they hopefully continue their investigation. I am still hoping they will get to the bottom of the problem and the
records will be adjusted. If so, I will post an update.

Temp from the VP2 at 2400 was 48.6 RH 91% BP 30.25R DP 46.3. Cloudy with some warming at midnight.

Good morning from the cloudy, drying out, mild Walrus early on this Thursday.
