A partly to mostly cloudy, cooler, breezy and dry fall day update for West Rockville Maryland for Wednesday October 25 2017

Wednesday was a partly to mostly cloudy, cooler, breezy at times and dry day. Temperatures warmed from the low 50s in the early AM to the lower 60s in the mid afternoon, then dropped back down into the upper 40s through the evening till midnight obs. Dew points lowered greatly today, ranging from the upper-mid 40s down to the upper 30s. Now at 0712 we have mostly cloudy skies but dry here but there are some reports that sprinkles are falling in parts of the area. Temperatures are in the upper-mid 40s with dew points hovering around the 40° mark. The Wednesday minimum temperature from the VP2 (47.7°) was recorded at 2359 while the maximum temperature (60.7°) was recorded at 1523. Dew point temps ranged from 47° down to 39°. Relative humidity values lowered quite a bit today (74% – 45%). Barometric values varied little and raised only a little from yesterday’s readings, ranging from a low of 29.73″ at 1654 and a high value of 29.83″ at 0921.

Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444. I am also now on
weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time.

I watched a good part of the second game of the World Series, an exciting, much longer affair (4:10 vs. 2:30 yesterday) won by the Astros 7-6 in 11 innings. Once again starting game time temperatures hovered around the 100° mark. I worked a bit with Weather Together leaders to get a few issues fixed up.

We now have a cloudy sky at 0712 Thursday with temps in the upper 40s. Sprinkles have been reported in the area in spots but nothing measurable here as of 0710. Thursday should be partly cloudy and cooler, with highs in the upper 50s and lows in the upper 30s. A short 2-day moderating trend, mostly sunny and dry, should commence on Friday with high temps in the mid 60s and lows in the mid 40s. Saturday should be partly sunny with highs in the around 70° and lows in the low 50s. Cloudy and much cooler with an 80 POP for rain looks to be the forecast for Sunday, with highs in the mid 50s and lows in the upper 30s. Monday should remain cool with highs in the mid 50s and lows in the upper 30s, but with mostly sunny skies to allow us to dry out for the trick or treaters on Tuesday.

On Weatherbug at 0712 the radar is showing scattered light showers/sprinkles in parts of our region, with slightly more intense rainfall activity to our south over SE VA and eastern NC. The rain over much of New England has persisted, with flooding rains in some locations. The front has stalled, as our old ridge has been very stubborn to give way to the clearing out rain and cooler temperatures.

As of 0712 EDT, the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony) and the Lakewood WXBug station are as follows :
