A cloudy, mild, and wet beginning then partly cloudy and mild fall day update for West Rockville Maryland for Tuesday October 24 2017

Tuesday started out with cloudy and mild with occasional rain (0.17″ total but briefly heavy at 3:15 AM when I had a max rain rate of 3.00″/hr on my VP2) then slow clearing to eventually a clear/sunny late afternoon and evening. Temperatures warmed from the mid 50s in the early AM to the upper 60s in the mid afternoon. Dew points gradually lowered today, ranging from the mid 60s early down to the mid 40s late. Now at 0825 we have mostly cloudy skies but dry. Temperatures are in the low 50s with dew points lowered to the low 40s. The Tuesday minimum temperature from the VP2 (57.9°) was recorded at 2359 while the maximum temperature (68.7°) was recorded at 1457. Dew point temps ranged from 66° down to 46°. Relative humidity values lowered a bit today (97% – 64%). Barometric values started to rise late, after bottoming out at 29.68″ at 0258. Not nearly as large a range as yesterdays, we only climbed to 29.82″ at 2346.

Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444. I am also now on weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time.

I watched part of the first game of the World Series, won by the Dodgers 3-1 over the Astros in very hot southern CA, with temps at game time a record breaking 103°

We now have a partly cloudy sky at 0825 Wednesday with temps in the lower 50s. It is mostly cloudy out there now but drying out under chilly breezes. I wore my sweat shirt out to the rain gauge tonight for the first time this season. Partly sunny and cool on Wednesday with highs in the lower 60s and lows in the low 40s. Thursday should be even cooler, with highs in the upper 50s and lows in the upper 30s. A moderating trend, sunny and dry, should commence on Friday as we head into the weekend with high temps in the mid 60s and lows in the mid 40s. Saturday should be partly sunny with highs in the upper 60s and lows in the mid 50s. Cloudy and cooler with rain looks to be the forecast for Sunday, with highs around 60° and lows in the upper 30s.

On Weatherbug at 0825 the radar is showing our earlier Tuesday morning rain has moved off to the east over the Atlantic Ocean and northeast over New England and some of the maritime provinces of eastern Canada. Also scattered pockets of precipitation can be found in parts of the Midwest, over Lakes Ontario and Erie, southern Ontario and sections of Michigan at this time. Most of them are rain, but there could be some snow mixed in in some of the Northern areas.

As of 0825 EDT, the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony) and the Lakewood WXBug station are as follows :
