A cloudy, mild, (late) wet fall day update for West Rockville Maryland for Monday October 23 2017

Monday started out with dense fog in the early AM, visibility around 1/4 mile but lifted by mid-morning when it yielded to just cloudy and increasingly breezy conditions as the Midwest Front approached slowly from the west. Rain showers held off till the last few hours of the day, and were light (0.11″). Temperatures warmed from the upper 50s in the early AM to the lower 70s in the mid afternoon. Dew points rose quite a bit today, ranging from the mid 50s up to the upper-mid 60s. Now at 0618 we have cloudy skies but the earlier rain has stopped. Temperatures are around 60° with dew points about the same. The Monday minimum temperature from the VP2 (57.4°) was recorded at 0348 while the maximum temperature (73.2°) was recorded at 1438. Dew point temps ranged from 55° up to a
muggy 67°. Relative humidity values rose today (98% – 72%). Barometric values lowered quite a bit as the day progressed, one of the bigger drops we have had over the past several months within a calendar day, ranging from 30.31″ at 0002 down to 29.77″ at 2359.

Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444. I am also now on weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time.

We now have a cloudy sky at 0618 Tuesday with temps around 60°. 0.10″ of rain fell into my VP2 bucket since midnight but I believe is all over. It is still cloudy out there now and damp. During the day on Tuesday we should improve somewhat as the day moves on, with skies becoming partly cloudy with one more day of mild temperatures in the mid 70s. Cooler air should start moving in on Tuesday evening/overnight, with lows in the mid 40s. Partly sunny and cool on Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s and lows in the low 40s. A moderating trend, still dry, should commence on Friday as we head into the weekend with high temps in the upper-mid 60s and lows in the mid 40s. Saturday should be partly sunny with highs in the upper 60s and lows in the low-mid 50s.

On Weatherbug at 0618 the radar is showing our earlier rain has moved off to the east and north(east) and heading away from our immediate area. Severe weather was noted in parts of SC, NC, and SW VA on Monday, also with numerous reports of high wind damage. It was indeed breezy around here after the fog cleared, and kept up through midnight obs.

As of 0618 EDT, the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony) and the Lakewood WXBug station are as follows :
