A partly cloudy mild, dry fall day update for West Rockville Maryland for Sunday October 22 2017

A partly cloudy mild, dry fall day update for West Rockville Maryland for Sunday October 22 2017

Sunday was a but cloudier than it has been, call it a partly cloudy day with similar high and low temps as the past few days. This pattern should be ending very soon, with Monday the last day of this above normal temperature pattern and the end of our current week-long dry streak. Temperatures were once again in the upper 40s in the early AM, rising to the lower 70s in the mid afternoon. Dew points rose a bit today, ranging from the upper-mid 40s up to the upper 60s. Now at 0656 we have foggy skies, visibilities down well below a half a mile. Temperatures are in the upper 50s with dew points also in the upper 50s. My relative humidity sensor does not show 100% even when the air temp and dew point temp appear to be the same. The Saturday minimum temperature from the VP2 (49.4°) was recorded at 0725 while the maximum temperature (70.9°) was recorded at 1454. Dew point temps ranged from 59° down to 47°. Relative humidity values rose today (94% – 61%). Barometric values rose from yesterday’s values, ranging from 30.41″ at 0941 down to 30.29″ at 1811.

Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444. I am also now on weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time.

I finished my initial September climate summary for the North Jersey Weather Observers, submitting it a few hours ago. I will be working up more summaries for others this week, and finalizing the spreadsheet by incorporating part of my already monthly summary into the notes on the spreadsheet. With limited space I must condense my comments and give only the major highlights.  I am hoping to post this summary here on my blog on WeatherTogether in a few minutes.

We now have a very foggy sky (dense fog) at 0656 Sunday with temps around 60°. Above the fog deck are higher level clouds that are starting to move in leading to a general increase in clouds with still mild temperatures on Monday with highs in the mid 70s and lows around 60°, then a 100 POP for rain showers on Monday evening with a slight chance for thundershowers after midnight. Tuesday should remain cloudy in the morning with an 80 POP for rain showers, then lessening chances (20 POP) in the afternoon under partial clearing and dropping temperatures as a cold front moves through the area late in the day. Partly sunny and cool on Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the low 60s and lows in the low 40s. A moderating trend, still dry, should commence on Friday as we head into the weekend.

On Weatherbug at 0656 the radar is clear throughout the Eastern U.S. but the nearest rain is marching eastward out of parts of the Midwest and SE (MI, IN, KY, TN, GA, AL and western FL) and should be arriving here much later on Monday into Tuesday.

As of 0656 EDT, the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony) and the Lakewood WXBug station are as follows :

Station Relative Location Temp RH DP    BP    Wind High/Low temp today
VP2             Ground        60.4  97  60 30.26F  NA   70.9/49.4

There was no rain in the cocorahs gauge on Sunday. Likewise in the VP2 tipping bucket under my balcony.

October precipitation is now 1.41″.

Year-to-date precipitation total is now 34.97″

WX Bug Lakewood 4500 ft, 60 100 60 30.27S SE 2 G SSE 4
                            140° from station                       75/58

The Lakewood rain gauge recorded no rain on Sunday.

Temp from the VP2 at 2400 was 60.0 RH 85% BP 30.31F DP 55.8 Clear and calm at midnight .

Good morning from a foggy and damp Walrus early on this Monday.
