A cloudy, wet AM yielding to a mild, partly cloudy and humid PM weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Wednesday September 13 2017

Wednesday started out cloudy with occasional light rain and fog between approximately 0615 and 0830 (0.12″) then partly cloudy and mild as the day wore on into the afternoon and evening, with no more rain the rest of the day. Temperatures warmed into the mid 70s with lows in the low-middle 60s. Dew points were in the upper 50s rising into the low 70s by later in the day. Now at 0624 we have cloudy skies with light rain and temperatures in the mid 60s with dew points in the lower 60s. The Wednesday minimum temperature from the VP2 in the shelter on the ground below my balcony (63.7°) was recorded at 0739 while the maximum temperature (75.0°) was recorded at 1605. Dew point temps rose from yesterday, ranging from 58° up to a muggy 71°. Relative humidity values were higher than yesterday (97% – 76%). Barometric values continued to drop from yesterday’s higher values, ranging from 29.94″ at 0000 down to 29.83″ at 1823.

Remember now you can get the ground-based VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444

We now have cloudy skies with light rain and temperatures in the mid 60s at 0624 Thursday. The weakened remnant rains of Irma are still hanging around in much lighter amounts and will fall on us most of Thursday (70 POP) with high temps in the upper-mid 70s, along with more summer-like humid air and the accompanying showers. On Friday temps should be right around 80° and lows in the low 60s under partly cloudy skies and only a 20 POP for rain. Saturday should be partly cloudy and warm with highs in the low 80s and lows in the mid 60s and a 20 POP for rain. Sunday should have similar low 80s and mid 60s temps, but with an increased chance at showers (40 POP). Continued warm and partly sunny with lesser chances for showers.

On Weatherbug at 0624 the radar is showing our earlier light showers have moved off to the east, but a new batch to my west may make it in here in the next few hours.

As of 0624 EDT, the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony), the Lakewood WXBug station and the USG VP2 station across the street are as follows :

There was 0.12″ of rain in the gauge on Wednesday (cocorahs gauge – now located off the apartment property across the street from my initial two locations just off the inactive putting green – near the Montessori School playground. No sprinklers there at all on this county property). My VP2 gauge recorded 0.08″ with a max rain rate of 0.12″ @ 0658. Since midnight I have recorded 0.01″ of rain up to the present time.

August precipitation was 4.39″ (believe this is in error – I will have to research the numbers in the next few days)

September precipitation through midnight obs tonight was 2.56″.

Year-to-date (YTD) precipitation total is 33.86″

There was no rain reported once again in the USG gauge on Wednesday. The USG VP2 stayed offline all day and is not providing me most data sets (save for barometric pressure readings) for some unknown reason.
