I rose late today as I didn’t get to sleep Saturday night till mid-morning Sunday. I didn’t get to face time with Robin and Gideon today as he had a rough bout with diaper rash that made for a painful bathtub experience. I talked with Ray, mostly over football and weather forecasting preparation over the phone in the evening a few times. I had a grilled turkey salami, cheddar cheese, pickles and mustard sandwich on an everything bagel. Also had the rest of a container of orzo and potato salads along with a few pepperoncini. I watched the poorly played NFL Sunday night game opener Giants game with the Cowboys, NY losing 19-3. Later on I had some Triscuits with hot pepper cheese and for dessert a few chocolate chip cookies. I had some prune and spicy low-sodium V8 juices right around dinner time, and plenty of water and vitamins throughout the evening.

We now have clear skies with temperatures in the low 50s at 0720 Monday. Monday should be mostly sunny with a few scattered clouds at times, highs in the mid 70s and lows in the mid 50s. The remnant rains of Irma should be skirting west of our area the rest of the week with high temps in the low 70s under partly cloudy, showery rain (40 POP) on Tuesday and a 50 POP the rest of the week with highs up around 80° and lows in the low 60s. Right now Irma has weakened to a Cat 1 and is located in northern Florida, moving into SW GA, parts of AL and then western TN on Monday/Tuesday and diminish to tropical storm status, then move with a broader. weaker circulation northward towards our mid-Atlantic region the rest of the week. Florida took quite a hit on Sunday, particularly in the Florida Keys and SW Florida in the Naples/Ft Myers area, heading further north in the Tampa area. Most all of the state experienced hurricane force winds during much of Sunday, along with flooding rains and great storm surge at times. However, Irma’s affects on our immediate area should be minor and non-damaging at best, with just mainly beneficial rains in the later part of the week.

On Weatherbug at 0720 the radar is clear north of the influence of Hurricane Irma, where rains have just about reached the North Carolina and Tennessee southern borders. Rain is quite widespread now in northern Florida, parts of SC, GA and AL at this time

There was no rain in the gauge on Sunday (cocorahs gauge – now located off the apartment property across the street from my initial two locations just off the inactive putting green – near the Montessori School playground. No sprinklers there at all on this county property).
