A partly sunny, very warm and humid weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Tuesday July 11 2017

Tuesday was a partly sunny, very warm, dry but more humid day that continued our week of heat and high dew points with the usual discomfort. The temperatures rose up into the upper 80s similar to yesterday after lows in the low 70s during the early AM hours. There were even more clouds than Monday, with blow off clouds from dying thunderstorms to the west in the AM and new thunderstorm and shower development in the late afternoon. The rain action was mostly in parts of Northern Virginia, and scattered areas of Maryland, but not here. Pretty close, within a few miles as Gaithersburg just to my north reported light-moderate rain at times in the late afternoon. At 0522 we have mostly cloudy skies with temperatures in the low-mid 70s. The minimum temperature from the balcony VP2 (72.3°) was recorded at 0609 while the maximum temperature (89.3°) was recorded at 1654. Dew point temperatures continued rising from yesterday, ranging from 74° to 64°. Relative humidity values were a bit higher than yesterday (79% – 53%).  Barometric values lowered slightly today, ranging from 30.00″ at 2355 to 29.93″ at 0459.

Remember that you now can get the balcony location data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444

I woke up partially in the afternoon, taking several calls from Ray, Tracy and Robin in bed before rising.  I did  have a late brunch of cereal, banana, coffee and 1/2 a cantaloupe. I watched tonight’s All Star Game later, won by the American League 2-1 on a HR from Robinson Cano in the 10th inning.  For dinner I finally finished off the pork barbecue on toasted rye with pickles and melted cheese, garnished by a bit of guacomole that I had just made. I worked on some “mountain enthusiast” email with friends that is always fun.  So far all looks good on “Weatherquack” and hope this post will upload successfully. I sure missed posting, and hope to catch up with some interesting images taken during our short hiatus to update you on recent station changes that will also continue to occur, as mentioned with Marty’s visit during the day today (see further details at the end of this paragraph).   I hope to see many of you today on Weatherquack http://www.weatherquack.com – it is completely free and easy to use once you complete your registration and a short ramping up period.  I also drank some from my ginormous water bottle throughout the evening and early morning hours. I cleaned up some of my weather equipment in anticipation of Marty’s visit Wednesday morning/afternoon to install the VP2 sensors at ground level where the Taylor sensor is (and still only working intermittently)

We now have mostly cloudy and dry skies with temperatures in the low-mid 70s at 0522.  Thie rest of this week looks partly sunny, obnoxiously hot and humid with high temps up in the mid 90s on Wednesday and Thursday with only a 20 POP for rain each day with lows in the increasingly muggy low-mid 70s both nights.  Right now Friday looks cloudy and steamy, highs in the low 90s with a slightly reduced 80 POP for showers/storms. The forecasters already knocked down the 100 POP from yesterday. It won’t surprise me if we go even lower as the week progresses. Saturday looks partly cloudy and drier, with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the mid 60s.

On Channel 4 radar at 0522, shows an area of dying thundershowers that are now just showers over parts of Eastern WV at this time as a possible near term effect on our area, though I believe they will dry up before reaching our immediate area.
