A cloudy, cooler, humid and wet weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Thursday July 6 2017

A cloudy, cooler, humid and wet weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Thursday July 6 2017

Thursday was cloudy and wet (0.95″), particularly in the AM hours and an evening secondary max. Temperatures were surpressed from the clouds and rain. After temps fell into the muggy low 70s during the early AM hours, the temperatures held in the 70s all day.  The Taylor Max/Min thermometer continues to have problems and I could not get a max (or a min) out of it again today. At 0545 we have cloudy skies with temperatures in the damp low 70s, with light showers falling in the area. The minimum temperature from the balcony VP2 (72.1°) was recorded at 0419 while the maximum temperature (78.8°) was recorded at 1520. Dew point temperatures were a bit higher than yesterday, ranging from 74° to 70°. Relative humidity values also rose  (94% – 82%).  Barometric values lowered today, ranging from 30.12″ at 0007 to 29.91″ at 2350.

I got up in the early afternoon today to finish preparing my trivia questions for delivery in this evening’s game. All worked well with the process, and I even added a weather twist, asking participants to guess how much rain fell all day up to the time of the game. I also worked on some pictures for Marty. I had cereal with a banana along with coffee well before the trivia game. I also chatted with Tracy. After the trivia game I talked with Ray and my sister Deryl, along with Marty.  Later for dinner I had some leftover pork barbecue, along with half of a butternut squash, baked nicely in the microwave (to saften the skin) and n the conventional oven.. Gosh that was good! I had not had baked butternut squash in quite a while. Deryl helped me with the cooking procedure for the squash. I then caught up a bit with my email and watched some baseball. I had prune juice and regular low-sodium V8 before dinner with some cashews much later.  I also had another  long conversation with Ray well into the early AM hours, mostly dealing with the trivia questions I compiled and talking music, along with a post mortem on Thursday’s rainy conditions. I continued to work more on the newly “hatched” Weatherquack weather website which should be fun in the coming months.  I hope to see many of you soon on Weatherquack http://www.weatherquack.com – it is completely free and easy to use once you complete your registration and a short ramping up period.  I also drank some from my ginormous water bottle throughout the evening and early morning hours.

We now have cloudy, occasional light rainy skies overnight with temperatures in the low 70s at about 0545, a bit before  sunrise, the light from which is greatly diminished with our still cloudy skies.  Friday looks warmer with partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 80s, lows around 70°, but only a 30 POP for late day showers/storms.  Saturday and Sunday looks to be partly to mostly sunny and dry, with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the low 60s. Monday looks mostly sunny with perhaps a few scattered clouds and warmer, with high temps in the upper 80s and lows in the upper 60s.

On Channel 4 radar at 0557, there are showers scattered around the area, mostly in northern VA, along with a large area of rain in central PA, moving west to east that will stay away from our area.
