A partly cloudy, very warm, humid ( and slightly wet) weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Independence Day Tuesday July 4 2017

Fourth of July Tuesday was another typical July day, very warm, humid and even with a brief evening shower (0.20″) around 2130 EDT after we dodged earlier late afternoon/early evening storms that rocked closeby communities in the county. After falling into the low-mid 70s during the early AM hours, the temperature rebounded to around 90° by mid-afternoon. The Taylor Max/Min thermometer had a problem and I could not get a max (or a min) out of it today. At 0524 we have mostly cloudy skies along with temperatures in the muggy low 70s. The minimum temperature from the balcony VP2 (74.0°) was recorded at 0618 while the maximum temperature (90.3°) was recorded at 1443. Dew point temperatures were the same as yesterday, ranging from 71° to 61°. Relative humidity values were also the same (85% – 40%). Barometric values were just about the same as yesterday, ranging from 30.06″ at 2324 to 29.98″ at 1724.

I got up in the mid afternoon today and had a good bowl of cereal with my last banana and coffee for a late brunch. I then caught up a bit with my email and chatted briefly with Robin on a regular call, then a face-time call later with Gideon once again providing the entertainment. I also put in a few last minute additions to tomorrow’s grocery delivery order. My good long-time friends Bob and Dee came over for an early evening visit, managing to get through the nasty storm hitting their home area in the Damascus area just as they were coming here. I don’t get many visitors so when I do I always enjoy it greatly. After they left I had my awesome pork barbecue on toast, with pickles and cheese plus a few cucumbers. I had prune juice and spicy low-sodium V8 before dinner with some triscuits much later after the great fireworks shows from Washington DC and New York City. I also had a long conversation with Ray over many weather topics. I continued to work more on the newly “hatched” Weatherquack weather website which should be fun in the coming months. I hope to see many of you soon on Weatherquack http://www.weatherquack.com – it is completely free and easy to use once you complete your registration and a short ramping up period. I also drank a good part of my ginormous water bottle throughout the evening and early morning hours.

We now have mostly cloudy skies with temperatures in the low 70s at about 0524, still well before sunrise. Wednesday looks to be partly cloudy and a bit “cooler” with highs in the lower 80s and a 40 POP for showers/storms and lows around 70°. Thursday looks mostly cloudy with a 90 POP for showers/storms, highs in the upper 70s and lows around 70°. Friday looks a bit warmer with partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid 80s, lows in the upper 60s, and a 60 POP for showers/storms off and on during the day. Saturday looks to be partly cloudy and dry, with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the low 60s.

On Channel 4 radar at 0524, there are scattered light showers in nearby northern VA and eastern WV which should track south of my immediate area for the most part but some shower action does look likely in the next few hours.
