A partly cloudy, relatively cool and dry weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Wednesday June 28 2017

A partly cloudy, relatively cool and dry weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Wednesday June 28 2017

Wednesday started out clear and pleasant but clouded up a bit at times mid-day, then yielded to clear skies with high clouds signifying increased levels of moisture moving in at the upper levels of the atmosphere, that will come down to the surface along with heat, starting on Thursday. There was no rain once again today. High temperatures only rose during the partly sunny afternoon to the upper 70s after a comfortable early AM min around 60°. My newly acquired Taylor Max/Min thermometer maxed out at 88.9° early, once again too high of a temperature to officially be my high value for the day, but was moved into its new “house”, a Davis Model 7714 passive radiation shield, in the early evening courtesy of my great friends Marty and Rick who did most the very much appreciated relocation/installation activity. It is hoped that in the coming days the Taylor will provide the most accurate max and min temps since I moved here 6 months ago.  At 0600 we have clear skies with some high clouds and temperatures in the lower 60s. The minimum temperature (59.5°) was recorded at 0521 while the maximum temperature (78.7°) was recorded at 1901. Dew point temperatures were the same as yesterday, ranging from 57° to 48°. Relative humidity values were roughly the same as yesterday’s (72% – 36%).  Barometric values were higher than yesterday, ranging from 30.20″ at 1052 to 30.09″ at 0000.

I got up in the mid afternoon today to take a shower and get my mail early to get my new radiation shield which arrived via USPS Priority Mail today. I also got some preparation work down on the shield as best I could to be ready for my personal installation team of Marty and Rick arriving in the late afternoon. It was great to work with Marty and Rick and socialize a bit and talk weather with them in the early evening. Naturally Ray called when we were all here, and he got to talk briefly to all of us. I had cereal and sliced banana with coffee for a late brunch before they got here. Mike delivered dinner from Tracy for me, and for some pico de gallo and spicy salsa to mix up with avocado to whip up a new batch of guacomole. I will do that on Thursday evening, I had a few soft carne asada tacos with black beans and mexican rice for dinner tonight.  I had prune juice and spicy V8 before dinner and some cashews well after dinner. I worked more on my backlogged monthly weather data and also continued to work a bit more on the newly “hatched” Weatherquack weather website which should be fun in the coming months. Weatherquack was migrated over to a new system overnight, and so far has been functioning better with the posting of daily weather posts like this one. I hope to see many of you soon on Weatherquack http://www.weatherquack.com – it is completely free and easy to use once you complete your registration and a short ramping up period.  I also drank a good part of my ginormous water bottle throughout the evening and early morning hours. I am showing as my featured image a picture of my new weather equipment location and setup, including a view towards my balcony at the top of the building. Questions welcome!

We now have clear skies with temperatures in the lower 60s at about 0600, just after sunrise. Unfortunately Thursday through the weekend will really be warming up again, mostly sunny and hot and humid with highs in the low 90s and lows around 70°. There is a 60 POP on Saturday for showers/thunderstorms as we start the month of July.

On Channel 4 radar at 0624, there are just a few areas of rain in the Eastern US and Canada. Rain is found up in the area of Lake Huron in NE MI and parts of ON, along with some showers up in northern ME and parts of Quebec.
