A partly cloudy, very warm, dry and humid weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Sunday June 18 2017

Sunday was a partly cloudy, hot, dry but still quite humid. High temperatures rose today with strong sun at times to the lower 90s after a still warm early AM min in the low-mid 70s. My newly acquired Taylor Max/Min thermometer did better with the clouds shielding the full sun’s rays at most key times, maxing out at 92.3°, still a bit too warm but better. We had some cumulus and stratocumulus at times in the warm, muggy air in the afternoon. At about 0620 we have partly cloudy skies with temperatures around 77° about 30 minutes after sunrise. The minimum temperature (74.1°) was recorded at 0151 with the maximum temperature (90.3°) was recorded at 1531. Dew point temperatures were even higher than yesterday, ranging from 76° to 69°. Relative humidity values were the same as yesterday’s (88% – 57%).  Barometric values were lower than yesterday, ranging from 29.87″ at 0821 to 29.75″ at 1744. No rain fell today despite some scattered showers around in a few spots of the DC region. Dew points remained in the mid 70s most of the afternoon and evening , while temps rose into the low 90s with more stronger sun than yesterday.

I got up in the late afternoon after dozing off and on most of the day. I took a much-needed shower then started to prepare my dinner where I baked two small salmon fillets in foil with lots of lemon and dill, cheddar broccoli rice and roni and cut green beans. It really was yummy, I was very pleased on how the salmon came out. I worked on some email in the evening and checked out all the Fathers Day messages and pictures posted on Facebook. I also had some prune juice and hot and spicy low sodium V8 before dinner and some cashews and Triscuits well after dinner. I watched some of the Red Sox/Astros game on the ESPN game of the week (won by Boston 6-5) and also a live wrestling show on the internet on my computer. I continued to work a bit more on the newly “hatched” Weatherquack weather website which should be fun in the coming months.  I hope some of you out there will join in the fun soon on Weatherquack http://www.weatherquack.com – it is completely free and easy to use once you complete your registration and a short ramping up period.   I also drank a good part of my ginormous water bottle throughout the evening and early morning hours.

We now have partly cloudy skies with temperatures around 77° and very humid at 0620. Later on Monday it should be cloudy with highs in the mid 80s, lows in the mid 60s, with a 100 POP for showers/storms, some of which may be severe or cause flooding (prompting a flash flood watch put out by NWS a few hours ago). Tuesday and Wednesday look  to be sunny with scattered clouds at times, dry with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the lower mid 60s. Thursday should heat up again with partly cloudy skies and highs in the low 90s, lows around 70°

On Channel 4 radar at 0620, there are showers on a rough NE/SW line moving S and E towards our area out to the west over parts of WV, KY, PA and NY. They will get stronger as the day progresses and get fueled by the heat and humidity of the daylight hours.
