A partly to mostly cloudy, not as hot, dry but still humid (but a bit less so) weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Wednesday June 14 2017

Wednesday was a partly to mostly cloudy, not as hot, dry but still humid (but slightly less so- esp late) day. High temperatures rose today with less sun to the upper 80s after a muggy early AM min in the mid 70s. Some regional station did make it to the 90° mark but still at least 3° lower than yesterday. My newly acquired Taylor Max/Min thermometer topped off at 98.1° again, too warm as the sensor is not shielded from the sun yet, which does reach my balcony in the morning hours with a NE exposure. We had some threatening cumulus buildups during the mid-day hours as part of a weak back door cold front that kind of fizzled out. An upper level trough to my SW brought all the showers and storms to areas to my W and SW out in the mountains that headed S or SE and not towards my immediate area. At about 0530 we have partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s. The minimum temperature (74.9°) was recorded at 0528 right before sunrise with the maximum temperature (87.9°) was recorded at 1519. Dew point temperatures were about the same as yesterday, ranging from 72° to 65°. Relative humidity values were a bit higher than yesterday (76% – 53%).  Barometric values were about the same as yesterday, ranging from 29.98″ at 2255 to 29.88″ at 0158. I left out the picture I posted the past 2 days in deference to those who have limited storage in their email systems. I will try to only post pictures of significant weather like cumulonimbus, mammatus, rainbows, hail, snow and such. Pretty rare events around here of late.

I got up in the mid-afternoon to get going for a food delivery from my daughter Tracy through Mike. He delivered some smoked chicken wings, pico de gallo, hot sauce and chips from the Mexican restaurant she works at. I had two ripe avocados I wanted to make guacomole with, which is made basically by combining the pico de gallo with the smashed up scooped out avocado. I put some on some of the chips for a delicious appetizer. I had some coffee first, along with watching some of the late afternoon Nats/Braves baseball game, won by Atlanta. I then heated up the other big item brought to me, smoked St Louis style ribs made in Tracy’s new smoker, which was really delicious, along with some deli potato salad.  Later I watched some of the White Sox/Oriole game which ran late due to a rain delay in Chicago, along with the ESPN broadcast of the late Los Angeles based Yankee/Angel game, won by LA 7-5. along with the usual late night show fare and a few long talks on the phone with Ray M.  I also had some prune juice and hot and spicy low sodium V8 before dinner and a few cashews well after dinner. I continued to work a bit more on the newly “hatched” Weatherquack weather website which should be fun in the coming months. I hope some of you out there will join in the fun on Weatherquack http://www.weatherquack.com – it is completely free and easy to use once you complete your registration and a short ramping up period.   I also drank a good part of my ginormous water bottle throughout the evening and early morning hours.

We now have mostly cloudy skies with temperatures around 70° at 0545.  The high temps on Thursday should be in the mid 80s with sunny skies and just some scattered clouds at times with lows in the mid 60s. Friday looks mostly cloudy, with a 20 POP for rain, and high temps in the mid 80s with lows in the upper 60s. Saturday looks to be partly cloudy with highs in the mid 80s and a 60 POP for showers/storms and lows around 70°, with Sunday reaching the low 90s for high temps and a 40 POP for more showers/storms.

On Channel 4 radar at 0550, there are showers out in parts of OH, KY, IN, and IL with more up in NE Michigan expending well into much of central Ontario. Nothing really moving our way in the short term.
