A cloudy, cooler, somewhat wet weather update for West Rockville Maryland on Wednesday June 7, 2017

Wednesday was a cloudy, cooler day with a light shower (0.03″) sometime (not sure when).  High temperatures were really muted by the clouds and cooling northeast breezes with temperatures topping off only in the mid 60s. At about 0535 we have mostly clear skies with temperatures in the low to mid 50s. The minimum temperature (58.5°) was recorded just before obs tonight at 2356 and the maximum temperature (66.9°) was recorded at 1246. Dew point temperatures dropped today, ranging from 58° to 52°. Relative humidity values raised a bit today (84% – 68%).  Barometric values rose today, ranging from 30.05″ at 2255 to 29.83″ at 0001.

I got up in the late afternoon after a few phone calls and work on my cell phone in bed. I took a shower and then watched some baseball and NBA playoff finals. For a late brunch I had a few triscuits with cajun crab dip along with a cup of coffee. A bit later on I heated up the leftover crab cakes and the rice a roni from earlier in the week, along with a freshly made salad that I had to chop a lot of vegetables for.  I also had some hot and spicy low sodium V8 before dinner. I continued  to  work a bit more on the newly “hatched” Weatherquack weather website which should be fun in the coming months. I hope some of you out there will join in the fun – it is completely free and easy to use once you complete your registration and a short ramping up period.  I also drank a good part of my ginormous water bottle throughout the evening and early morning hours.

We now have mostly clear skies at sunrise with a few scattered high clouds spotting the sky with temperatures in the low-mid 50s 0545. Thursday looks to be partly cloudy, a bit milder but dry with highs in the mid 70s with lows in the mid 50s.  Friday starts a significant warmup with scattered clouds and a high temp around 80° and a low in the upper 50s. Saturday climbs into the mid 80s with lows in the low 60s under sunny skies with a few scattered clouds around that will lead into maximum temps in the low-mid 90s on Sunday with lows in the mid 60s under sunny skies. Early next week looks a bit hotter, with highs in the mid 90s and lows around 70° under sunny, more humid skies.

According to Channel 4 radar, there is a building, potential Northeaster located in the rain area along the Carolinas coast and offshore, heading NE, but will probably move more offshore as it heads NE and keep us dry and hotter after it passes by, as a strong SW flow pumps in much hotter air into our area, starting over the weekend and into most of next week.

As of 0612 EDT, my balcony data, the USG station across the street, and the Lakewood Country Club WXBug station is:

Station     Relative Location      Temp    RH    DP         BP        Wind   High/Low temp today

There was 0.03″ of rain in my gauge today (cocorahs gauge on ground to the side of my building).

June precipitation is 0.16″.  Year-to-date (YTD) precipitation total 16.37″

VP2  Across the street (USG)     55.0     89    52      30.05S    N/A   67.4/58.3

There was no rain recorded in the USG gauge on Wednesday for some unknown reason.

The Lakewood rain gauge recorded no rainfall today. I think their temp/humidity sensor may be having problems.

Good morning from the clear, dry, cool Walrus early on this Thursday morning.
